Christ the King Mount Washington makes an impact on individuals, families, and local government

“When we launched Christ the King (CTK) Mount Washington last January,” says Dustin Nimmo, pastor, “I wanted to be an asset to the community.” Nine months later, CTK Mount Washington has more than fulfilled that vision. Sponsoring a concert at a local community festival, committing to trim trees and remove trash and snow from a portion of the business district, and taking the lead in finding solutions for a recent homelessness problem are just a few of the ways this 75-member congregation is making an impact in the neighborhood. “Saying we’re here to help, and then actually doing it, has definitely captured community attention,” says Dustin.

This growth isn’t without challenges—a new meeting space topping the list. “We’ve really outgrown the room at the rec center where we currently hold Sunday services,” says Dustin. The one possible solution for a new meeting space is a completely gutted pool hall in the heart of the business district, requiring funding for major repairs, a solid contract with the building owner, and city approval before the congregation could even hope to sign a lease. “I don’t know how it’s going to work out,” says Dustin, “but we won’t let that stymie what we’re called to do. God will be faithful, and we will continue to be an outpost for his kingdom.” To learn more about how you can help CTK Mount Washington, contact Dustin at dustin.nimmo@gmail.com.
