We, my teammates and I, have another teammate that maybe you have not heard much of. He is a Yalunka man with a powerful testimony to God’s saving grace. It is amazing the way God introduced him to us. He began working with us on our trips as a translator. These days, he is more than our translator. He is our friend, our brother, our family, and our fellow coworker. He has been through it all with us and is passionate about the work among his people. His name is Samba.

In the spirit of giving, we, the West Africa Initiative team, had a local welder put together a new row boat for Samba. One that is steady and solid. Samba has been a huge blessing to us and it is a pleasure to bless him and his family in return.

This canoe was a surprise to him. He had no idea it was in the making. My favorite part of the whole experience was his reaction. He was grateful, yes, but the greatest part was that he recognized not us, but the good Lord for this gift. He realized that he was being blessed by God through us. Not only that, but he dedicated the boat to God right away. I am always challenged by his faith.

Here is a short video of him receiving the row boat and taking his maiden voyage. Thank you for praying! Next month we’ll be taking part in a training seminar to prepare us for February when we start our trips into Mali again. I hope you had a Merry Christmas and a happy new year!
