Christ the King Residency Program Offers Practical Training for Potential Pastors

An update from Michael Clary, Pastor of Christ the King Church in Cincinnati, OH

Think you need to go to seminary to be effective in ministry? Think again. Through an innovative internship program for pastors-in-training, Christ the King Church in Cincinnati, Ohio, is offering intensive, hands-on experience for potential pastors with the goal of making them into fully equipped, well-rounded disciples.

“A pastor’s job is to lead the disciple-making process,” says Michael Clary, lead pastor and creator of the residency program. “That’s why we spend so much time investing in our residents’ lives.” In fact, the first five months of the program are devoted to helping potential pastors understand what motivates and drives them, followed by intensive experience running a ministry at the church.

“Going to seminary is a big commitment that many people can’t make,” says Michael. “By the time people decide they want to go into ministry, their lives are well established. Without this program, some of them might never enter a pastoral role.”
