A message from FEC President, Rocky Rocholl

2015 marks a milestone in the life of our denomination – 150 years. Wow, that really is a long time! From our roots as Egly Amish, then Defenseless Mennonites, Evangelical Mennonites, and now the Fellowship of Evangelical Churches, we have held unswervingly to an evangelical faith between 1865 and 2015. You can learn more about this amazing history at our convention this summer, so be sure to make plans to attend! As we celebrate this anniversary, our goal is to honor and appreciate what God has accomplished through FEC during our history while looking ahead to the next chapters He is writing.

2014 in particular was a year of building, and we have certainly seen amazing growth. I believe 2015 will continue to be a time of growth and opportunity throughout FEC, both geographically and numerically. But the question we ask going forward cannot be, “Is FEC growing?” Instead we need to ask, “Is God transforming our communities through our ministries?” and “Are we reproducing ourselves into the next generation?” If the answer to each of those questions is affirmative, we can be confident that we are in step with our values anchored in Evangelical theology and Anabaptist distinctives, while fulfilling our mission to glorify God by obeying the Great Commandment and fulfilling the Great Commission through Establishing Reproducing Churches Worldwide.
