Jesus Isn’t for Sissies

An update from Shon McIntyre, Planter of Real Tree Church in Farmington, MN

That’s the message Shon McIntyre, professional-bull-rider-turned-pastor, has been preaching in Farmington, Minnesota, at Real Tree Church for the past three years. What started as a ministry to a couple of guys in his basement has turned into a full-fledged, FEC church.

“In our part of the country,” says Shon, “religion is just religion, and guys don’t take much part in it.” That was a trend he set out to change. “As men become true believers and true Christ followers,” he says, “they become the leaders they were meant to be in their homes.”

Through consistent, expository preaching and an attitude that never gives up, Shon has been able to disciple several men, one of whom plans to plant a church of his own. Add in Wednesday night services, the premier of a summer-long VBS program, and a recent convert from the Mormon church, and you get a pretty good idea of what the future holds for Shon and his wife, Becky.
