Personal Engagement Makes a Difference in Defiance

An update from Sam Andres, Pastor of King’s Cross Church in Defiance, OH

King’s Cross Church is “the family of God on the mission of God.” According to Sam Andres, pastor at King’s Cross Church, “to be a part of this church family is to be called to the mission of Jesus. We want everybody to be actively engaged in reaching others for Christ.” This core philosophy is making a difference, both for the people sharing Christ and those receiving the message.

For example, Gospel Life Groups don’t just meet together for fellowship, study, and prayer; they also spend time regularly at the local homeless shelter, where in addition to serving, they sit down and eat with homeless people, building relationships that will make a difference for eternity.

In addition, King’s Cross Church meets on Sunday mornings at Defiance College, where they are actively looking for ways to bless students, faculty and staff. One Gospel Life Group meets on the campus, while others lead a Bible study to reach students. “Our mission is in our workplaces and our neighborhoods,” says Sam. “We don’t host a lot of events; rather, we teach people to proclaim the Gospel in wise ways to their neighbors and friends.”
