With the rising cost of higher education, the Christian Service Foundation (CSF) continues to make strides to help FEC families with that financial load. This year, the CSF increased its scholarship from $1000 to $1500 and expanded its availability to college-bound high schoolers. As a result, $100,000 will be awarded to 73 college students this year.
Many accredited colleges provide a match for these scholarships, awarding a total of $3000 to many students. A scholarship like this is a way to invest in the next generation of leaders within the church, according to CSF president, Bruce Wright. “It’s exciting to see what these young kids are going to do for the kingdom. If we had a small part in it, that’s great.”
One of the highlights is receiving thank you notes from award recipients like this one from a college student in Idaho: “I’m excited to pursue a higher education through college and a higher calling as a Christian in my everyday life.”
The window for applying for these annual scholarships is mid-November to mid-January. The CSF board has made a concerted effort to create awareness for these scholarships by regularly notifying FEC churches, pastors, youth pastors, and past recipients. Applicants can continue applying for and receiving this scholarship throughout their collegiate journey.
The Christian Service Foundation exists to support churches with resources like building loans, property loans, investment programs, and college or camp scholarships. Last year, $25,000 was donated to youths via camp vouchers for attending Miracle Camp. Bruce’s vision is for the CSF to keep doing what they’re doing and reaching more of this next generation for Christ.
“The board is always very thankful for God and his leading of this ministry,” Bruce says. “giving us his wisdom and his direction on how the board should be using some of our income from our ministry.”
