Brent Salsbury is a pastor’s kid who found faith in Jesus at a young age. In sixth grade, during camp, a leader issued a challenge that first kindled Brent’s love for ministry. “Something clicked within my heart that I wanted to serve God with my life,” Brent says.

From his teen years and beyond, Brent fell in love with serving the church, whether it was in youth ministry, worship, service projects, internships, or camp counseling. As a result, Brent says he’s been able to “learn a lot of things, make enough mistakes to understand how people work, but also how ministry should be done.”

After graduating from Taylor University, Brent began doing full-time ministry that took him to Indiana, Michigan, and Arizona over the next two decades. When his father announced his retirement at Comins Community Church in Comins, Michigan, Brent felt a new calling. Although they’d planted roots in Arizona, Brent and his wife both felt God stirring their hearts back toward the Midwest.

In July, Brent was officially installed at Comins Community Church and will co-lead with his father until September 7th. That Sunday marks the 100th anniversary of the church and will be the day Brent’s father steps down. Brent sees the legacy his parents have left in the community. “The way they care for people and the way they love people – that’s a mark of their ministry that I want to carry on.”
