The Fellowship of Evangelical Churches is thrilled to unveil a new Certificate of Theology program, a first-of-its kind, proactive approach to pastoral education and credentialing. Several months in the making, this new certificate brings the best of top seminary courses to FEC pastors and leaders at a comfortable pace—and at a fraction of the cost of traditional seminary training.

Working in conjunction with Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in Deerfield, Illinois; Bethel Seminary in Saint Paul, Minnesota; and Denver Seminary in Denver, Colorado, the Certificate of Theology program offers a set of nine, three-credit-hour courses to help FEC ministry leaders develop a robust, foundational base of biblical theology. Participants work through the courses together in a group—or cohort—of 10-15 people, receiving support and mentoring every step of the way.

“Increasingly,” says Tom Bennardo, director of pastoral development, “the new generation of church planters and pastors are second-career people, bi-vocational professionals, and self-studied individuals with less formal theological education. We want to help them attain solid theological training while accommodating their busy ministries and lifestyles.” The first cohort begins this fall, and spots are filling up quickly!
