Mercy and Truth Church celebrates 20 years of God’s faithfulness in Amman, Jordan this year. Pastor Noor leads with God’s mercy to plant and establish churches full of life. Thus, 10 years ago, a local non-governmental organization (NGO) was also born. Based in Mercy and Truth Church, this NGO serves many refugee Iraqis, Egyptians, Syrians, Palestinians, and more by sharing Christ’s love in practical ways.
Hal Lehman, the Cross-Cultural Director for FEC, felt a new international initiative on his heart, so when God connected him with Pastor Noor through FEC church planter Nashwan Saadoon, he knew the next step was to board a plane to Jordan. When his team spent time at Mercy and Truth Church and when Pastor Noor was also able to meet FEC leaders in the US, FEC and Pastor Noor moved forward with a partnership last April. Now FEC offers opportunities for support, short-term teams, leadership training, resources, and prayer as Pastor Noor and his team serve the growing Amman community.
Amman, Jordan is located directly west of Israel with over 120 biblical historical sites one could visit. This is also a home to many refugees fleeing their homelands with few provisions. Pastor Noor emphasizes ministering with “unconditional mercy” by providing a school for children and skill-training classes for adults like sewing, woodworking, and mosaic art. “Since God’s mercy is unconditional with us, we will have unconditional mercy for those we work with,” Noor says. Mercy and Grace Church also provides free medical and dental care for the community. Pastor Noor’s wife has offered prenatal training and education to more than 1,600 pregnant refugee women entering Jordan with no support or resources.
Hal says he is excited for FEC to “begin to have an impact, a relational and gospel impact, into a part of the world that is very difficult but has a great need for the gospel.” Pastor Noor’s vision is to be ministering in all 22 Arab countries of the Middle East and North Africa in the next five years. God has already led his ministry into 10 of them.
