Nine years ago, Sameed Osman hated Christians. Growing up in a Muslim family in Saudi Arabia, Sameed committed his life to promoting Islam, trying to convert or disprove Christians and Jews. Years later, Jesus met Sameed, changing his life forever.
While attending Bradley University, Sameed established himself as a leader at the Muslim Student Association (MSA). During an event that brought all student groups together, the MSA table was beside a Christian table, Chi Alpha. Sameed began talking with the Christian students who invited him to their group meetings. “You can tell me about Jesus; I’ll tell you about Islam,” he said.
To disprove these Christ followers, Sameed researched apologetics and accounts of Muhammed and Jesus and began reading the Bible. Over the next year and a half, Sameed saw answers pointing more toward Christ. One night, after receiving life-threatening injuries, he lay in the hospital and asked “the one true God” to show him a sign that he was real. Sameed saw a bright light and Jesus standing in his hospital room. “I felt an abundance of peace I had never felt before.” He awoke the next morning miraculously healed from his life-threatening injuries. Shortly after, he gave his life to Christ and got baptized.
Today, Sameed has a wife and daughter, and he serves as the Equip Pastor at Northwoods Community Church in Peoria, Illinois. He also teaches apologetics and is stepping into a leadership role for prayer. He gives all glory to God for his story and remains passionate about people learning the truth of salvation through Jesus Christ.
