The Fellowship of Evangelical Churches consists of more than 70 churches across the nation, as well as many parachurch and global initiatives. Leading our fellowship is a group of servant-led, spirit-driven men and women at the FEC Office. One of the teams that supports them is the General Board. At its heart, the General Board takes spiritual vision and practically applies it to staffing, overseeing budget, and stewarding finances to maximize their impact on ministry. In other words, FEC leaders generate ideas, then the board discerns if they are financially feasible and align with the Fellowship’s bylaws, godly values, etc.
Levi Stuckey, chairman of the General Board and lead pastor of Crossroads Church in Napoleon, Ohio, knows how important it is to have a team like this building up our leaders. “We can do more together than we could apart,” he says. Years earlier, Levi saw how previous board members interacted with and supported pastors, even taking him under their wing as he entered vocational ministry.
Some practical ways the General Board serves FEC are helping with annual conferences, caring for leaders by approving sabbaticals, and supporting SoulCare retreats where ministry leaders and their spouses spend time with other leaders connecting and building relationships together.
“The relationships within FEC are our greatest resource,” says Levi. As he looks ahead to 2025, what excites him and his team are the opportunities to creatively initiate more support for leaders, partner with the new multiplication director at FEC, and remove more debt to enable greater ministry opportunities.
