The Prayer I Never Prayed
“FEC is an answer to a prayer I didn’t pray.” So says Nate Zimmerman, FEC’s administrative director, a position he’s held since 2015. Born and raised in FEC at Brookside Church in Fort Wayne, Indiana, Nate graduated from Taylor University and immediately entered the family business. “I enjoyed working with my family and most parts of the business,” he says, “but I didn’t enjoy sales. Because I highly value family and loyalty, I stayed engaged.” When an opportunity opened up at FEC, however, Nate knew it was a better fit. “My dad gave me his blessing to pursue this position; otherwise, I wouldn’t have considered it out of loyalty to him and the family business.”
As the administrative director, Nate handles financials, offers support to missionaries and church planters, directs social media and marketing, and manages web development and leadership programs. “I seek to be the glue of the office,” he says, “to notice the gaps and fill them in. I’m thrilled to go to work and be a small part of what God is doing through our churches, and I’m thriving in a way I was not before joining FEC.” Today, Nate is passionate—not just about family—but also his church, his work, and his team. “God provided in all the ways I needed, and then some,” he says. Nate looks forward to exciting new ventures facing FEC, along with all the ways God will continue to use him, in the years ahead.
