Nestled in southern Michigan lies 80+ acres of campground where Jesus’s name is lifted up every week. Now, Miracle Camp is taking a step in faith to launch the Rooted and Rising Campaign. This is a 10- to 15-year vision to invest in campers and guests by raising $5 million for campground expansion and improvement.
The name “Rooted and Rising” stems from Miracle Camp’s strong foundation as a Bible-led ministry over the last 60 years, as well as its deep connection to FEC. The “Rising” portion speaks of how God has led Miracle Camp to a place of growth in its impact on students and families.
One expansion will be a new camper lodge. Every summer, campers are placed on a wait list. This new structure will provide 120 more beds. That is 3,000 to 4,000 more lodgers every year who will hear the good news about Jesus Christ during their stay at camp.
Executive Director Ross Adams believes strongly in “the Power of Camp.” This power is God using camp by expanding people’s capacity, time away, relationships, activities, worship and speaking, and using this to draw people to Christ. “Seventy to eighty percent of people who make a decision for Christ, do so by age 18,” says Ross. “Half of them do that at camp.”
Ross sees these expansions as another way to glorify God. “We are living the most amazing love story ever told – that’s God and Jesus and us. We get to live that at camp, so we want to do that with excellence.” Ross witnessed one man who attended Man Camp a year and a half ago battling addiction and incarceration. The man gave his life to Christ at camp, then reconciled with his wife and children a few months later. Last September, that same man brought his restored family to Family Camp. This is the power of camp!
