Praying for Hearts to Hear the Truth in Maine

Ministry in Maine looks a lot different from most FEC churches. Just ask Mike Booker and Tim Knowles from Moss Brook Church, Steve Knowles at Life Community Church, or Eric Wood at The Hill in Portland. These ministries have discovered a common theme: New England has become a post-Christian culture, with some of the least-churched people in America. As Eric Wood says, “God has not been on the radar here for a very long time.” Into this environment, FEC is bringing the message of redemption to people who have lost their way, whether they live in rural or urban communities. Mike Booker explains. “All around us, there are churches that are struggling or declining. We don’t have a magic formula, but we are thankful that God is opening people’s eyes to the truth.”

In Maine, starting up conversations about God, life, and truth, along with building long-term relationships, is far more effective than an invitation to hear a dynamic Sunday morning message. Many times, those conversations occur with members of the congregation or church-launch team, not just the ministry leaders. In fact, a vital part of the strategy is leading people to be reproducing followers of Christ. And it’s working. Lives are changing. People are getting baptized, and marriages are being restored. Please join us in praying that God’s truth and love will continue to pierce people’s hearts in Maine and draw them back to Him. Also pray for ministry leaders, that they will have wisdom as they lead their ministries and that their teams will be encouraged, that they will never give up.
