Five-year-old Mike Drury knelt in his Sunday school class and accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior. Over time, the Holy Spirit wove a calling into Mike’s life that eventually led him to Pine Hills Church in Fort Wayne, Indiana, where he recently celebrated 20 years of pastoral ministry.

Pastor Mike is humbled and in awe at what the Lord has done throughout that time. As a teen at a camp retreat, he was invited to throw a stick in the fire saying, “In the same way the fire consumes this, stick Lord, consume me and do with me whatever you like.”

In Florida, Mike was a middle school Bible teacher, youth pastor, and family pastor. Then, in 2006 a woman from Pine Hills Church visited Mike’s church in Florida and asked him to consider applying for the lead pastor position at Pine Hills. Mike and his wife Lillian sought the Lord’s guidance which led them to move north to Indiana later that year.

Through the last 20 years, Mike has encountered faithfulness and a blessing of patience from the Lord. God put a clear calling on Mike to lead Pine Hills into a new direction of multiplying churches. Since then, the church has helped plant eight churches nationwide and 10 in Zimbabwe through the Africa Church Planting Initiative.

“I feel humbled, overwhelmed in a good way, and in awe,” says Mike. “The shaking-your-head kind of awe.”

Mike sees the incredible impact his family has made on his life as well. Lillian stands beside him in decision-making times and supports him as he serves the church body. He is so grateful to his three children who accepted the sacrifices a pastor must make being on-call 24/7.

Mike looks forward to continuing the mission of “bring, build, send,” in the greater Fort Wayne community.
