The Fellowship of Evangelical Churches (FEC) encourages continued education.  We have two educational assistance opportunities that provide some assistance with the cost of continuing education.  Our Seminary Assistance program is designed for persons pursuing a seminary degree; our Continuing Education Assistance program is for credentialed personnel who are taking courses in a ministry related field.

This program is considered a loan made to the individual.  The loan may be repaid by service in an approved FEC ministry.  Applications shall be made to the Elder Board and the General Board will administer the programs.  The Seminary Assistance Program can only be used once.  The Continued Education Assistance can be used twice for two different educational programs.  The maximum available to any individual is $10,000.00.

SEMINARY ASSISTANCE

This program is designed for persons who hold credentials with FEC or for persons who are members of an FEC church and have felt the call of the Lord to become pastors.

The program will operate according to the following principals:

  1. The applicant shall hold credentials with FEC or be a member of an FEC church intending to enter into full-time Christian service with FEC.
  2. The applicant shall complete an application and submit it to the President. A letter of recommendation from the local church or other FEC approved ministry should be included with the application.
  3. The application shall be approved by the Conference Board of Elders.
  4. The maximum amount of the loan shall be $6,000.00.
  5. The actual amount loaned will be determined by the cost and length of the program and distributed evenly over the course of study.
  6. A 1-year or greater lapse in the program, without approval of the General Board, will result in the termination of the program with payment due any money loaned to that point.
  7. After completion of the program, loan amortization will begin. The entire loan can be repaid by serving in FEC. For each year of service, one-third of the loan will be forgiven resulting in the entire loan forgiven over a three-year period.
  8. If the loan is not repaid by service in FEC, the individual shall begin making payments to amortize the loan over a five-year period. Payments shall include principle and interest. The rate of interest shall be established by the General Board.
