Leadership orientation acclimates newcomers to the heart, history, and hopes of FEC

FEC is spreading across the nation, and, with God’s grace, reaching greater numbers for Christ. With that growth comes a new challenge: how to keep everyone connected and on the same page. According to Rocky Rocholl, president, that kind of bond is crucial for the continued health of FEC. “Our greatest strength as an organization is the relationship between our leaders and churches,” he says.

This past year, FEC has taken steps to strengthen those connections through a new leader orientation seminar, “Welcome to FEC!” According to Tom Bennardo, head of pastoral development in the western U.S., the primary goal of the seminar is to help new leaders within FEC understand “who we are and how we got to where we are.” An equally important goal is to ensure that relational bonds are developing among leaders. “Pastoral leadership is one of the most difficult jobs on the planet,” he says. “We want our leaders to know that they are not alone.”

“On a personal level,” Tom continues, “I did not grow up in FEC. As a church planter coming in, I would have greatly appreciated a seminar like this. It’s an invaluable tool. There is a holy fraternity of those who are sold out for Christ,” says Tom. “Our goal is to get them in one place and connect, giving them an ongoing connection that can carry them through tough times.”

The maiden voyage of “Welcome to FEC,” held in Fort Wayne last fall, was a great success. Led by veteran pastors and FEC staff, key sessions covered everything from FEC’s doctrinal beliefs and positions, heritage, footprint, initiatives and strategy, and resources. A second session, held May 1 – 2 in Illinois, promises more of the same. “Our goal is to host the orientation at least twice a year,” says Tom, “in various locations throughout the fellowship.” According to Rocky, “My personal hope for this time is that we will leave as better friends, committed to each other and the success of each ministry we represent.” To learn more, contact Tom at T.Bennardo@fecministries.org, or call the FEC office at 260. 423.3649.
