The Fellowship of Evangelical Churches is moving its headquarters to a new and more convenient location in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Here, Rocky Rocholl, FEC president, answers questions about the upcoming move and shares how you can be a part of it.

Q: Why do we need to relocate the FEC offices?

RR: Years ago, the leadership at FEC realized we would eventually need to move from this location. Several factors have contributed to that decision. First and foremost is the lack of accessibility, especially for people coming to us from out of town. In addition, given the age of our current building, we are looking at rising upkeep and maintenance costs at a time when market values for office space in this area have significantly declined. For this reason, making renovations to our current location doesn’t make much sense. But the timing hasn’t been right to relocate—until now.

Q: What has happened to change that picture?

RR: We recently received an offer for this property above and beyond what we had hoped. At the same time, Brookside Church was planning to sell a small piece of their property that they couldn’t use and has offered it to us for less than market value. The combination of these two events seemed to be telling us that God is leading us in that direction. As an added bonus, the buyer of our current space has agreed to let us stay in this location through the summer while we build our headquarters in the new location.

Q: What are the advantages of relocating the FEC offices?

RR: The advantages are several. First, the move will more than double our square footage. This is significant given the potential for adding new office personnel to keep up with our current growth. In addition, the new building will include a full basement, which we can use for meetings and training opportunities. Being close to area hotels is an added benefit for out-of-town guests. We will also be able to upgrade our technology, allowing us to participate in international conferencing with our teams overseas and network with churches across the United States as well.

Q: How can we help?

RR: We would love to move into the new facility as debt free as possible. So we’re looking for donations from private individuals who might want to underwrite the cost of the new construction. These one-time gifts will enable us to apply other resources toward direct ministry and growth.
