Language learning, permanent housing, and a good transition for the family. Those are the top priorities—and prayer requests—as new team members they prepare to depart for Basque country this month. “We are feeling all sorts of opposing emotions at the same time,” they admit. “We are incredibly excited and filled with anticipation. At the same time, we are nervous, scared, and anxious. Most days we aren’t entirely sure how we feel, but we have learned that’s okay.”

After finding an apartment, the main priority will be language learning, which they’ll continue for a few years. “We believe that it’s very important to learn the heart language of the people we are serving and to come in with a learner’s attitude,” they say. “We also believe that entering the country as language learners puts us in the best position to do ministry with the people.” While the family has encountered a few challenges along the way, they remain convinced that God is at work in the transition. “God has already provided a car for us as well as some household items from another family that is leaving the field and looking to get rid of their items before they leave.”

Overall, this family remains optimistic about their new adventure. “I’m looking forward to a fresh perspective and seeing life through a new lens,” they remark. “I want to learn from other people and experience what they experience. I want to begin to view life through their value set and begin to think like them. I most want to see how the gospel works in a different context and what the church looks like when led by Basque people.”

Please continue to pray for this family, along with the rest of their team, as they prepare for this new journey.
