Few FEC churches populate the western half of the United States, and only one FEC church exists in Idaho: Lakeview Bible Church. Lakeview sits 30 miles west of Boise, in Nampa. For the last decade, Nampa has experienced a population boom, and Lakeview Bible Church has been preparing to meet the needs of their growing community. In January, they launched a leadership incubator to train leaders for ministry and multiplication.

The idea for a leadership incubator grew out of the questions that Pastor Mike Rice and other leaders in the church were asking like, “How can we invest in our people,” and “How can we be ready for what God wants to do with us?” One Saturday each month, January through May, Lakeview is gathering 65-70 men and women for leadership training. In January, Tom Bennardo, FEC’s Wester Region Church Planting Director, addressed the group, and Jana Vastbinder led the group through a personal assessment. In February, Dave Reimer, the founding pastor of Grace Community Church, Newton, Kansas, shared his church planting journey. This month, they will host Jay Nickless, FEC Church Planting Field Coordinator.

Mike Rice also sees a growing hunger for God in Nampa. “We want to be in a place where we can respond to the needs of our community.” As the leadership incubator prepares future leaders, Lakeview and over 60 churches in the greater Boise area are preparing to host “2020 Boise Harvest,” May 1-3, led by Greg Laurie.
