The above picture isn’t the best quality, but it illustrates something that’s really important to the Basque Initiative and something that should be important to you.

Last weekend, some members of the Basque Initiative team had the opportunity to attend LifeGate Denver – a church plant that is only nine weeks old.  This FEC church plant is helping send the team to the Basque Region. Nirup, the lead pastor pictured above, preached a great sermon about how, as Christians, our dreams should be all about Christ, His gospel, and ultimately God’s glory.

That’s how the Basque Initiative team feels about their mission to the Basque. They may be sending lots of emails and visiting a lot of churches, but it’s not about them at all.  It’s about Christ, His gospel, and God’s glory. Ultimately this is God’s work, not something that the Basque Initiative team created or thought up.

This is one of the reasons they decided to raise support as a team.  They are going to be a team on the field, and they might as well start in the USA.  Besides, the support isn’t for any person in particular…the support is for Christ, His gospel, and God’s glory among the Basque. This is different from how most people raise support, and sometimes it is confusing to people.  However, the Basque Initiative team feels so strongly about their unity as a team, and their solidarity in Christ, that they want to demonstrate their conviction through the way they raise support.

The Basque Initiative team is not a team that is separate in the USA and together in Spain.  They are together all the time; God’s kingdom isn’t separate either.  Together, the Basque Initiative team and the churches and ministries of FEC can spread God’s glory around the world.
