This summer, Kingdom Collective (KC) in Fort Wayne, Indiana, hosted 10 college students for a unique internship experience. The internship was designed for the students to encounter God and draw closer to Him through discipleship, community, and ministry.

Lead Pastor Nathan DeVaux wanted KC’s multi-generational congregation to invest in these students through a life-on-life experience. Beginning with an online application, they eventually offered the 10-week, paid internship to 10 students. The church community facilitated the program, since half of the students lived in a host home. On Sunday evenings, church families also hosted the interns for a meal where they shared testimonies and encouraged the students. During the week, the students were immersed in Bible studies, prayer, and street evangelism.

The summer ended with a student-led Sunday gathering. During a commissioning service, the students testified to a deeper relationship with Jesus and felt more equipped to return to their campuses as ambassadors for Him. KC leaders hope that the internship will become an incubator to put the model of Jesus first, to abide in Him and to bear fruit (John 15:5).
