Chris Freeman is no stranger to the Fellowship of Evangelical Churches. In fact, he’s known Rocky Rocholl since he met Rocky’s son, Jon, in the fourth grade! Chris has maintained these close personal ties throughout his life, even while leading a thriving youth ministry in Dayton, Ohio, during the past six years. But it wasn’t until Chris began to sense that God might be calling him to something new that he felt the need to reach out to Rocky as a ministry mentor, not just the father of a good friend.

Several conversations later, and Chris has come to realize that not only does he share a strong theological alignment with the FEC; he also feels called to become a church planter as part of our fellowship. Chris and his wife, Madison, are still working through the coaching phase in their leadership development and are exploring possible locations for their church plant. “We have experienced a thriving ministry here in Dayton,” says Chris, “but we feel that God is calling us to move on. We’re just not sure right now where that will be.”

Regardless of where they land, Chris and Madison recognize that the need is great. “I’m part of a generation of people who—for the first time in American history—have grown up outside of the church,” says Chris. Their desire is to reach people who are walking away from the church, or who have never been to church, and point them back to God. Please be praying for Chris and Madison as they seek God’s direction for their future ministry.
