What Growth Means at River City Church, PA

It’s been a little over a year since River City Church moved into its new location in Swissvale, Pennsylvania, an urban community bordering the city of Pittsburgh. In that time, the church has experienced steady growth, with two baptisms, six new members, and regular attendance more than doubling in the past year. Even more important than those numbers, however, are the stories behind them.

Consider one woman who was baptized. She had grown up in the Catholic Church but never opened a Bible until she attended a River City Church women’s Bible study. The study, aptly named Open Your Bible, was appropriate for this group of women, since over half the congregation either didn’t own or had never opened a Bible in their lives. “It’s really encouraging so see this woman’s growth,” says Eric Baldwin, pastor. Through her connection with River City Church, she bought her first Bible and decided it was time to make a public confession of her newfound faith. Another person who was baptized came to River City Church during a family crisis, found Jesus in the process, and took the next step in his faith—baptism.

“We are continuing to meet and grow,” says Eric, “doing all the things that we believe our church should be doing.” River City Church plans to host four small-group Bible studies in the new year, up from just two last year. Please continue to pray that River City Church will continue to touch hearts and change lives in the borough of Swissvale! To learn more about River City Church, visit www.rivercitypgh.com.
