Small town responds in big way

Something for everyone. That’s how Alex Ruhter, pastor, describes his ministry in Deshler, Ohio, a small town in rural America. And while the church just officially launched on Easter 2015, they’re already seeing the fruit of their labor over the past year in this largely unchurched town. With one discipleship group wrapping up, five ministry teams in full operation, and four people giving their lives to Christ in the past few weeks, this small community is responding to the Gospel in a big way. Unfortunately, most people who claim church affiliation in small towns such as Deshler drive up to 30 miles to attend church, but unchurched people won’t do that.

“If we want to teach people to serve in their community,” says Alex, “then we have to give them a local church. There’s a huge opportunity for ministry in small towns,” he continues, “because nobody else is doing it. Our sole purpose is to bless Deshler, and they’ve noticed.” Through movies on the lawn, a summer kids’ camp, after-school outreach, letters to soldiers, and more, Wave Community Church is transforming this small town through the power of Jesus Christ. Please pray for Wave Community Church’s continued ministry in this largely unreached town.
