West Africa initiative receives help from African FEC church plant

What I want you to hear and understand today about these white people representing FEC is that 35 years ago, we were the unreached people group. How can we not go and help reach another unreached people group?

These are the words of Siaka Traore, pastor of the Evangelical Mennonite Church of Burkina Faso (EMC-BF) and longtime friend of Steve Nelson, speaking to his congregation in 2011 about the possibility of joining our West Africa initiative in reaching the Yalunka people. Since that time, the Burkina Faso church has sent two different delegations to join our trips to visit the Yalunka in Mali. Each time, their presence has been immensely helpful, since they speak a related language with the Yalunka and share a common bond as Africans. “The interactions on these trips have created a desire to reach the Yalunka in the hearts of our Burkina Faso friends. A partnership with them would prove immensely valuable in our efforts to reach this unreached people group,” says Steve. Siaka will be joining us in January with a few delegates from the EMC-BF for back-to-back training workshops for SimplyTheStory and Community Health Evangelism (CHE). “This is a crucial time for prayer as we build this relationship with our Burkina Faso friends,” says Steve. Please join us in praying about how God might lead the EMC-BF to work alongside us in the future as we work together to share God’s Word with the Yalunka people.
