“How good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity!” – Psalm 133:1

This Bible verse captures the heartbeat of Trevis Hull, team leader of Young Adults Fort Wayne (YAFW), a multi-church FEC ministry to people ages 18 – 35. Trevis, who had been involved in young adult ministry at Highland Gospel Community, launched this ministry in 2015 with the goal of bringing young adults from across the city together for once-a-month worship, teaching, and fellowship. It’s a vision that has taken root throughout Allen County, drawing crowds of 80 – 120 young people each month. The format is simple and features Biblical teaching from various FEC pastors, along with worship led by different FEC-affiliated church worship teams. Always, the focus is on uniting young people through Christ.

“As we met together each time,” says Trevis, “we kept getting positive feedback, with people from different churches across the city making good connections.” This year, the YAFW team plans to expand its focus, incorporating social gatherings and outreach into the mix. They’ve even united with local ministries, such as “United as One” from the campus of Indiana University—Purdue University Fort Wayne (IPFW). “We’ve really tried to do something different, thinking bigger than just one church, as we reach out to millennials,” says Trevis. “Our pastors have allowed us to take some risks and have been a huge encouragement along the way.”

Joining Trevis on the YAFW team are Heidi Clum, assistant team lead; Kara Hull, assistant lead; Jim Mahan, outreach coordinator; Natalie Sabin, IPFW representative; and Rachel Self, design coordinator. To learn more, visit www.youngadultsfw.com.
