Summer camp is an impactful experience for any young person. Attending a Christian camp where the Bible is taught, and Jesus is proclaimed can truly impact a child’s eternity. In 2009, the Victor Rupp family stood with this belief and established a scholarship fund to award “coupons” to young people wishing to attend Miracle Camp in Lawton, Michigan.

This year, the number of camp coupons used reached a record of 450. Over the years, the Rupp family’s fund was depleted, so the Christian Service Foundation stepped in to continue the efforts. This year, CSF made two positive changes: they doubled the coupon value from $25 to $50, and they switched the coupons from paper to digital, creating a more seamless process for distribution.

Bruce Wright, President of the Christian Service Foundation, made these changes along with CSF’s board members–many of whom shared their own personal experiences of growing in faith after attending Christian camps at a young age. “To a person,” Bruce says, “we all felt this was a really easy decision to make.”

One family shared how their 9-year-old son sold lemonade to earn his half of the cost for Miracle Camp this summer. After calculating his totals, he realized he was short $50 of what he thought he’d earned. When he discovered he’d qualified for a $50 coupon, he was excited. It was exactly what he needed!

Next year, CSF would love to see these camp coupons reach 500 children and young people. Coupons are automatically awarded during the registration process when parents list the FEC church their child attends.
